Debunking The Paradigm
They say if a lie is spoken often enough, it is perceived as the truth.
But what if that lie is not just a fabrication of stories weaved to entice the believers of a certain era in time? What if it is handed down from generation to generation, with a distinct yet sinister purpose behind it? What if the purpose of this distinct set of ideas is striking fear in the hearts of those who follow the cult & those who chose not to, alike? The ones who chose to follow the cult’s moral codes live under the constant fear of unwittingly breaking the pact of feigned righteousness & those who don’t , are at best subjected to social abandonment & at worst, put under the scanner of an often well-meaning, but mostly misguided sense of morality policing, which can result in anything ranging from ostracism to death itself.
But what if i doesn’t end here? What if this is just the beginning? Yes. What I have described to you, is just a proverbial ‘tip of the iceberg’.
Now imagine a binary fission like phenomenon in the realm of bad ideas. Except that it’s not a naturally occurring process like the former, but a carefully calculated division of the societal nuclei. More division of ideas, imposed moral codes & enchanting yet scary fairy tales leads to more cults and more ideological division in society resulting in concentration of power in the hands of a few power-hungry fear mongers & war lords. And that, my friend, is the concept of religion. The penalty & incentives associated with joining or rejecting a certain religion is made absolutely clear. Each sect varies in terms of the incentive plan bu the penalty is always the same – eternal tormenting of your precious soul in pits of hell. That’s not all, the ultimate reward may differ in terms of goodies entailed, however, you can be sure that your final destination will always be – heaven.
And the stories that are floated around may seem very different on the surface but if you look really closely, they’re all really not that different. The only difference that one may gather, is that of perception. One may perceive an attribute or a practice to be good, another may perceive it as bad. Now notice, how in all of this, the practice in question remains the same, but what changes, is the human perception of it. It’s the work of a genius if you ask me. But that’s not what I plan to comment on in this article. I promise, I will explore the fables later. And you will find more holes in them than Swiss cheese, most assuredly. For now, I wish to draw your attention to the cult within the cult.
The LEFT – RIGHT PARADIGM.
It’s taken for granted now, that at least once in your lifetime, you will hear someone say “Not all Hindus are the same!” or “I am a Muslim but I practice Islam very differently”.
In fact, with the followers of Islam, you can be absolutely sure that anytime there happens to be a terrorist attack anywhere in the world, it is simply expected, almost unanimously, in silent agreement sometimes & quite vocally at others, that each Muslim must take a stand against terrorism, state what is supposed to be the obvious for the follower of any other cult.
Shout from the rooftop my Islamic friend, “My name is Khan, not necessarily from the epiglottis, & I do NOT condone the killing spree a bunch of extremists indulged in , in a place so far away from where I currently live that it would take me some light years to even travel there in thought. Oh, and I am not a terrorist myself.
Phew! Seriously, what is this even supposed to mean? How can follow an ideology and yet not follow it unless you suffer from a mental disorder wherein you believe something that you don’t actually believe in. But like all things, this has an explanation too. It’s simple. Each individual, is blessed with unique cognitive abilities. That’s why, psychology is the only science without a definition. The human brain functions in a very unique way. It simply cannot be bound to one set of ideas in the millions. Therefore, each individual answers to his or her own distinct set of values, moral codes & perceives things rather differently from the rest of the clan. Even genetically similar or identical siblings are unique in their perception, cognitive ability & moral construct, therefore, it is nothing less than a joke to foolishly believe that an entire chunk of humanity can possibly think of a set of values and react to it, or even interpret and live it the same way.
That’s how you end up with right – wing lunatics, left-wing maniacs & fifty odd varieties of people in between. It’s a very wide spectrum because at the end of the day, we all answer to our own unique code of values which may be influenced by our families, our surroundings, our peers, our experiences and never, at all , by religion. But this also is not by chance. Nothing is left to chance, it’s all by design. The aforementioned purpose plays a pivotal role here too. Sustaining the paradigm or the cult within the cult is just as important as the greater entity or web of lies itself, because that’s how , control remains in the hands of the CHOSEN few.
The first step to liberation is to think freely and question unflinchingly. If you read history, or whatever of it is left without distortion, any time humanity has enjoyed a breeze of sanity or tasted a bit of real freedom, is when the norms have been questioned.Anytime even a single free-thinker in any era of time, sat back and thought things over, raised his or her voice to question what was being shoved down the throat of a choked human kind and led a revolution, whether ideological or bloody, there’s been change. Change does not come from within, that’s where it starts. For change to be fully realized, it must spread like a tidal wave and only then would the world embrace it completely.
My purpose in writing this piece, is to provoke some thought and gather some reaction. Let yourself out of the cocoon of guarded thought and for once, pave a path for your own spiritual awakening, not defined by others but decided by yourself. And I promise to be your friend and fellow explorer in this new time of revelations.
